Frequently Asked Questions

WordPress is one of the leading website CMS platforms online. It runs on more than 35% of the entire world wide web!  Luckily, WordPress.org is open-source and free, so you can use it without any further requirements. If you’re just getting started and want to learn about WordPress, please check the official Codex for further info.

WordPress Themes are basically sets of files that offer a certain functionality & design on top of the default WordPress platform. You can think of it as different “Skins” for WordPress, but with boosted functionality as well. You can read more about themes on the official WordPress.org Codex.

When you make a purchase from our shop, you will receive a yearly license that you can activate within your WordPress dashboard via “Appearance > Theme License”.

Once activated, the license would automatically allow to update your theme directly from the WordPress “Themes” panel whenever an update is available. Also, we do provide support as long as you have an active license.

If your license expires, you would need to renew it by making a new purchase in order to receive support and updates. However, the theme would continue to work even if the license is no longer valid, you don’t have to renew it.

To summarize, and clarify a bit: your site will still be accessible, with the same theme installed, but access to updates and support would be unavailable, so it is highly recommended to renew the license.

No! When you purchase an item from our online shop, you’ll get everything you need to get started. Our items do not and will never include any hidden costs or requirements.

However, you’ll notice that running a website could involve some other costs. You will definitely need a hosting solution to host your website, along with a domain name. We do not require our customers to purchase other frameworks or custom plugins, but you can do so if you feel you’re better off with some of those.

Sure. All of our themes are fully responsive so you can use them while browsing on a state-of-the-art 8k monitor, on your newest iPhone or Android phone, or just on your lousy 12 year old desktop computer. Any device would work great!

There are many WordPress themes out there, some trendy multipurpose ones can offer you the entire world and more (hint: this is usually not true, and you will find more unnecessary features included than necessary ones), other themes can claim they support podcasting, but we suggest that you double check that.

At SecondLineThemes, you can rest assured you get modern, clean code with only essential features while having SEO-optimized pages and a fast loading site.

On top of that, we create the most innovative WordPress themes for podcasters, and are recommended across the globe by serious podcasters and WordPress developers.

Lastly, our themes provide you with all the flexibility needed to run a podcast website. You’ll find it easy to import an existing podcast feed or host your own feed with WordPress. You could use any podcast host or not use any at all. We cover your needs no matter how you’re planning to podcast, or if you plan on changing the way you’re podcasting after a few months – We got your back!

First, thanks for your purchase!

If you don’t have any hosting yet, you must now get a WordPress compatible hosting plan and a domain name. If you’re looking for a faster, more advanced and managed solution, we recommend on checking out WP Engine and Pressable or Kinsta. Other popular (and cheaper) hosting solutions for WordPress sites include DreamHost, SiteGround and BlueHost.

If you need any assistance installing WordPress, make sure to contact your hosting provider or look at the tutorial in the official Codex.

Don’t worry, these links expire after 48 hours for security reasons, but you can still access the files at any time!

Along with the purchase confirmation you’ve received upon the initial purchase, we’ve also sent you a set of login details to our website. Please use those to access your dashboard here – https://secondlinethemes.com/dashboard/

In your dashboard, you’ll be able to download the files as long as you have a valid license.

Once you have purchased the theme, and ready to upload it to your WordPress site, please go over the following steps:

  1. Login to your WordPress admin panel.
  2. Go to Appearance > Themes > Add New > Upload Theme.
  3. Click on Choose File and select the theme .zip file.
  4. Click on Install Now.
  5. When your theme is successfully installed, click Activate to activate the newly installed theme.

If you have any issues while installing the theme, please look further into the item’s documentation, and contact us if you still can’t find the answer.

We are selling a website “Template” or “Theme”, which comes without content by default. This content can be easily imported to mimic the exact same website seen in the theme demos. After activating the theme, you can import the demo content directly in the Theme Setup Wizard.

If you still need to run an import after you’ve completed the wizard, you can import the demo content under Appearance > Import Demo Data. Just click “Import Demo Data” and wait until the importer notifies you the import process is successful. Please click the import button only once and wait, it can take a couple of minutes. If you click import multiple times it will duplicate the menu items under Appearance > Menus. However the pages themselves will not be duplicated.

Updates are free & simple for as long as you have an active license.  If you have purchased directly from our website, simply login to your WordPress Admin Panel, and insert the license code into the ” Appearance > Theme License”. Then, navigate to the “Appearance > Themes” section, and there you should see an update button whenever we release an update to the theme.

If you have purchased our theme through MojoMarket or CreativeMarket: You can download the latest version of the theme through your account.

Then when you are ready to update the theme, simply go over the following steps:

1. [Optional] Make sure to update your WordPress version.

2. Delete the theme from the WordPress admin panel or through FTP. (If you made any changes to the actual theme files they could be lost. It is therefore recommended to use a Child Theme.)

3. Install the theme as you would normally install it.

It is recommended to have a full backup before updating the theme. All of your site’s content (pages, posts, custom color settings) should be saved within the database.

First, don’t worry as it’s easy to fix! You can easily remove the “Latest News” heading from your front page.

Every WordPress theme out there would display a blog page as the front page by default. This can be easily changed into a “Static Front Page” (meaning, a regular, editable page).

You can change this in the “Settings > Reading” panel. For more info, check the WordPress Codex: https://codex.wordpress.org/Creating_a_Static_Front_Page

Definitely. We include by default our link as a reference, but you can easily change that and create your own custom footer.

If you’re using the page builder footer option, simply edit the footer template and change the link.

In case you choose the default footer, simply go to the “Appearance -> Customize -> Footer” and make the changes you need.

You sure can.
We include by default two “Types” of images. You can either use the default wide images (using a 1.6 ratio) for a more modern look.
To use square images, simply go into the ‘Appearance -> Customize -> General’ panel and disable the default image cropping. This should make sure your images are displaying perfectly in the exact same size you’ve uploaded them with no cropping.

Sure. We are happy to help you customizing the theme. We highly recommend using Codeable for larger projects. They have some of the world’s best WordPress experts at your disposal.

In case you wish to display your podcast online with our theme, you have several great options:

  • Choose any popular Podcasting plugin such as PowerPress, Seriously Simple Podcasting, SimplePodcastPress etc. We have created the theme with these plugins in mind, so both should work really well.
  • Use your own MP3 files hosted on your server or on external servers – You can easily embed any MP3 by linking it directly in the relevant field.
  • Use popular media providers such as SoundCloud, MixCloud, YouTube etc. – These can also be embedded by pasting the embed code of your file within the relevant field.

If your podcast already lives elsewhere on the web, you can import any valid podcast RSS feed into the WordPress site. We even created a special plugin for that to make things much easier.

Yes. We included everything needed so you can easily translate the theme into another language. The easiest solution for simply translating to one other language would be to use the Loco Translate plugin.

Each theme comes with a .POT file in the /languages/ folder to use as a starting point for translating into your language. You can translate these offline as well with tools like POedit.

Our themes are compatible with most multilingual plugins as well such as WPML, Polylang, qTranslateX and more!

Yes.

If you need to translate the theme to any RTL (right to left) language, such as Arabic, Hebrew, Farsi, Urdu and so on, simply set your new language in the WordPress admin panel under ‘Settings -> General’.

Then make sure to translate the theme as noted in the above answer. The layout would be automatically set to RTL when you use an RTL language and LTR when you use a LTR language.

We can provide the PSD files to existing customers upon request. Since most customers won’t need those, we’ve removed the PSD files from the installation files you can download after your purchase.

Our themes only include freely available images from sources like Pexels, Pixabay, Unsplash and the likes.

Those images are not provided as a core part of the themes but are available by importing those to your site.

Of course! We offer technical support for our customers via email. Support is free as long as you have an active license.

We support tickets that are related to general WordPress inquiries, simple CSS fixes, bug fixes, and general questions about our themes. Our support does not include major customization help such as creating new post types or actively editing large parts of your own website.

We only offer email-based support. We don’t support our customers through social networks, live chat, phone, or any other type of communication., but don’t worry, our email support is incredible!

You bet! We have an extensive documentation with many examples, tips, written instructions and tutorial videos to help you getting started.

Once you purchase a theme, you should get a link to the documentation by email or just check the docs link on the theme page.

When purchasing directly from our shop (Secondlinethemes.com) you can install the theme on Unlimited Websites!

If you bought a theme through another platform such as CreativeMarket or MojoMarketplace, you may need to purchase separate licenses for separate websites.

Local installations or staging environments are still OK in any case.

Yes, you can upgrade to a bundle or lifetime plan at any point after purchasing a single theme and only pay the difference.

To upgrade, login to your dashboard and go to “Licence Keys -> View Licenses -> Upgrades”.

We ship theme updates on a regular basis. With the Podcasting and WordPress worlds moving so quickly, we do our best to always keep you with the upper hand.

Our regular updates include bug fixes, security updates, new features (have an idea? let us know!) and functionality, support for new podcast hosts, compatibility with newer versions of WordPress more.

As long as you have an active license, you can enjoy those updates.

You may ask how regular are the updates. This is a fair question, but the answer really depends. Sometimes, we release multiple updates per week (in case there’s a large change in WordPress or in podcasting/feeds in general), but sometimes this is limited to once every 5-6 weeks, if there are only smaller, maintenance-related or minor fixes.

We can say this – Instead of creating dozens of different themes and confuse our customers, we’ve decided to focus on our current themes and keep improving them continuously.

While we don’t have a true trial version of our themes, you can simply make a purchase and ask for a refund if you’re not happy with our theme. We have a 30 day money back guarantee, so that’s essentially like a 30 day trial period.

Yes. Please visit our Refund Policy page for more info.

Yes! The newly added features to the Business Plan supports uploading custom themes and plugins. For more info please refer to their pricing page here. Unfortunately The other plans do not support custom plugins and themes at this time.

This should not be confused with the free, open-source WordPress.org project, in which custom themes are a core part of the eco-system.

Our payment gateway provider adds VAT to your purchase depending on your location.

Depending on your billing country (mostly in Europe, but not only), you may have to pay value added tax as required by law.

If you are making a purchase for a registered business/company with a valid VAT ID, you can add your VAT ID during checkout to waive the added tax.

Of course!

If you think you can spread the word, and interested to earn a commission on the converted leads your bring to our website, we’d be happy to have you as an affiliate.
